Town of Brookhaven Recognizes FJC Student Art Work
Town of Brookhaven Councilwoman Jane Bonner and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael F. Ring joined with FJC students in Mrs. Buonconsiglio’s art class to recognize their work in painting a 55 gallon drum to be used as part of the Town’s single stream recycling program.
The 55 gallon drum (pictured), along with those painted by students in other schools throughout the Town of Brookhaven, will be placed in town parks to collect recyclable trash. This project is just one part of the school district’s participation in the town’s single stream recycling program. Earlier this year the district was selected by Town Supervisor Romaine and Councilwoman Bonner to be a pilot school district in the single stream program. Since joining the program the Town of Brookhaven has collected, at no cost to the district, numerous dumpsters full of recyclable trash from the Frank J. Carasiti elementary school.
It is anticipated that the single stream program will be expanded to all Rocky Point schools in the near future.
