Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael F. Ring, was invited by Town of Brookhaven Supervisor Ed Romaine and Councilwoman Bonner to participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the town's new single stream recycling facility. This new facility allows the town to recycle numerous materials without requiring separation of materials prior to disposal. Recently, Rocky Point UFSD was selected as a pilot school for the Town of Brookhaven¹s single stream recycling program, allowing for the district collect paper, glass, plastic and metal together. These materials will be collected by the Town, at no cost to the school district, and recycled.
As a result of this partnership, the school district anticipates a meaningful reduction in its garbage removal costs.
