Rocky Point Second Graders Celebrated at Moving-Up Ceremony
The Rocky Point School District administration and Frank J. Carasiti Elementary School (FJC) staff could not have wished for a more picturesque day as second-grade students joined their teachers for the annual moving-up celebration on Friday, June 20.
Principal Virginia Gibbons thanked the parents for their support of education and thanked the students for giving her lasting memories of the three years they spent together at FJC.
Mrs. Gibbons and Assistant Principal Dr. Courtney Herbert announced that the school ranked second statewide in the National Geography Bee Challenge and presented individual student awards.
The ceremony culminated with each student receiving a blue moving-up sash and a dictionary from the Rocky Point Rotary Club. After the ceremony, the students, families and faculty gathered on the lawn for refreshments in celebration of this special day.
