Rocky Point High School seniors Lauren McBrearty, Joseph Niver and Brittany Rinaldi have been named the Class of 2015 valedictorian, salutatorian and exhortation speaker, respectively.
In the fall, Lauren is bounded for Cornell University, Joseph will study political science at Vassar College, and Brittany will attend West Point, where she will also compete on the lacrosse team.
Lauren has taken 19 Advanced Placement and honors courses during her high school career and has been named an AP Scholar with Honors and a PSAT/NMSQT Commended Student. She is the rank and section leader in the school’s award-winning marching band and a member of six additional music ensembles. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and New York State Math Honor Society. She is one of the captains of the varsity soccer team and also plays for a travel soccer team outside of school. In addition, Lauren received the Suffolk County Girls Soccer Academic All-County Award in the fall of 2014.
Joseph has taken more than 13 Advanced Placement and honors courses during the past three years in Rocky Point. As a senior, he added to this rigorous course history by taking an additional five Advanced Placement courses. He was named a 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Student and an AP Scholar with Honors. He is a member of the National Honor Society and New York State Math Honor Society, president of the Rocky Point High School Science Club and competes on the varsity track team.
Brittany is a dedicated scholar, enrolled in several AP courses during her high school career. She has been named an Academic All-American lacrosse player and an AP Scholar with Honors.
