The dangers of distracted driving were in the forefront of a recent assembly for the senior class at Rocky Point High School.
During the program, guest speakers Karen Torres and Ryan spoke candidly about the subject matter and how it has directly impacted their lives. Ms. Torres shared how a distracted driver tragically killed her father, while Ryan spoke about how his choice to drive while impaired by drugs forever changed the course of his life.
As a follow-up to the program, the building’s SADD club encouraged students to sign a pledge to refrain from actions that would distract them while driving. The banner will be displayed in the main lobby as a daily reminder for the entire student body.
