In recognition of October as Fire Prevention Month, the students at Frank J. Carasiti Elementary School attended in-school assembly programs conducted by the Rocky Point Fire Department to learn about fire safety.
The firefighters spoke about the type of gear they wear when entering a fire, the importance of smoke detectors, and having an escape plan in the case of an emergency. The students actively participated in the event, as the firefighters invited them to climb aboard an operational fire truck.
