A invention created by Rocky Point Middle School eighth-grader Michelle Hernandez was selected as a winner in the Scholastic Action Magazine Writing Contest “Read, Write, Win!”
Under the direction of her English teacher, Laura Hoenig, Michelle wrote about an invention that could solve a common problem – the need to save a writer’s work on the go. Michelle’s creation, a pen that also serves as a flash drive, would enable writers to automatically save their work to the flash drive and upload it to any computer. According to Michelle, this will save time, as writers will not have to remember where they left off, as well as the possibility of lost work.
