Rocky Point Middle School’s March blood drive drew tremendous support from the school and surrounding community. Members of the building’s Community Service Club donned blue scrubs and volunteered as “little doctors” to the more than 30 donors who were accepted to donate.
Prior to the event, which tied into the school’s science curriculum, sixth-grade classes attended workshops with representatives from the New York Blood Center. The students learned about blood, the importance of donating, and how this life-saving resource is utilized. They also received donor forms to share with those in the community who met the qualifications to become a donor.
